Where Has it Gone? is mysterious, eerie and has an unsettling feel.
The use of only 4 notes builds a limited soundscape that creates a claustrophobic atmosphere combined with the sensation of feeling trapped within the notes. The restriction of notes also means there is nowhere to hide as one wrong note would destroy the effect! It’s only at the very end that whatever has been lost is suddenly found as the piece culminates with a triumphant major chord!
