This free ancient-sounding piece uses repeated open 5th chords in the left hand (D and A) and a 5-note hand position in the right hand.  The minor/modal tonality helps create a oldy-worldy feel and the steps (2nds) and skips (3rds) help portray a sense of walking up and down stairs.
