Riffing ‘round the piano is a collection of 7 piano pieces, each using a different 5 - note hand position.

  • C-riffic uses the notes C - G in both hands
  • D-riffic uses the notes D - A in both hands

and so on up to B-riffic which uses the notes B - F in both hands.

Each piece builds confidence of a different set of 5 notes beneath each finger to help prepare students for more hand position changes during pieces.

Note values used are

  • Quavers / eighth notes
  • Crotchets / quarter notes
  • Minims / half notes
  • Dotted minims / dotted half notes
  • Semibreves / whole notes.

There are also tied notes that create syncopation and help focus on coordination between the hands.

Each piece uses popular sounding riffs that will appeal to teens and adults as well as children.
