Transformation emanates a sense of courage along with awe and wonder.

The chordal passages, contrasted with minimalistic patterns and cross-rhythms, help create a spiritual feel that evolves into the final section that uses a flowing pianistic left hand with a lyrical right hand that contains flurries of notes that convey a sense of celebration and achievement.

Features: Chords of 4ths and 5ths, triplets over quavers / eighth-notes, semiquaver / sixteenth-note flurries

Focus: Chord placement, coordination, finger dexterity

Saving a Single Starfish has a meandering and thoughtful quality.

The ostinato left hand evokes the ebb and flow of the tide while the melodic motifs in the right hand help to communicate the story of finding a starfish washed up on the beach and returning them to the sea.  The hints of minimalistic patterns help to reflect the repetition of the movement of the tide.

Features: Ostinato-style patterns in left hand, minimalist motifs, range of nearly 7 octaves

Focus: Stamina, coordination, spatial awareness

Sailing in the Breeze conveys a sense of drifting and momentum.

The ostinato left hand represents the movement of the water while the impressionistic right hand arpeggiated chords evoke splashes and the flurries of notes evoke wind driving the sails.

Features: Left hand ostinato, spread / arpeggiated chords, acciaccaturas

Focus: Coordination, finger dexterity, chord placement

Of One Accord is poignant, dramatic and has a contemplative feel.

Opening with a melody reminiscent of a plainsong, the mood of simplicity is set only to be broken by the arpeggiated chords, triplets and turns that each add movement and create drama.  Each bar ends with a dotted minim / dotted half note to create a contrast to the activity, which is aided further by the stillness created by the pedal D notes used throughout.

Features: Arpeggiated chords, triplets, chords with each inversion

Focus: Stamina, dexterity, chord placement

Total number of pages in book:  24
