Find a Moment of Clarity Part 1  is a collection of 4 piano solos suitable for pianists that are Grade 8 - 8+/ Advanced.  Each piece has been carefully composed to promote piano technique, musicality and well-being.

A Moment of Clarity is serene, thoughtful and meditative.

 

The lilting feel of the left hand ostinato-style patterns adds to the equally lilting rhythm of the right hand melody to help create a sense of familiarity and understanding through their gentle flow.

 

Features: Cluster chords, demisemiquaver / thirty-second note triplets with semiquaver / sixteenth note motifs, ostinato-style left hand

 

Focus: To work on chord placement, finger dexterity, rhythm


 

Finding Sanctuary encapsulates searching and questioning whilst creating a spiritual feel.  

 

There are ostinato patterns, sweeping left hand movements, scalic passages in right hand and some part-playing that all help convey the quest for a safe place to be.

 

Features: Three voices, repetitive motifs, semiquaver / sixteenth-note flurries

 

Focus: Part-playing, coordination, finger dexterity


 

Seeing the Sea Beyond the Trees evokes peace and nostalgia with a meditative feel.  

 

The ostinato style patterns and flowing pianistic left hand help convey the overall landscape while the impressionistic right hand flurries, tenuto chords and part-playing help to create images of the sea and trees. 

Features: Ostinato-style patterns in left hand, quaver / eighth-note, semiquaver / sixteenth note, demisemiquaver / thirty-second-note triplets, cluster chords

 

Focus: Stamina, finger dexterity, coordination


 

Reading in the Warmth of the Sun emanates a peaceful air combined with quiet deliberation that helps to convey concentration.  

 

There is an ostinato left hand combined with a lyrical right hand that then contrasts with more dramatic chordal sections to hint at different characters within the story.

 

Features: Ostinato-style left hand, cluster chords, portato

 

Focus: Stamina, finger dexterity, balance between hands
